Canola rotation effects on soil water and subsequent wheat in the Pacific Northwest USA

چکیده

Farmers in Mediterranean climate regions are increasingly growing canola (Brassica napus L.) wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)-based systems to break soil-borne pathogen disease cycles, control weeds, and enhance crop marketing opportunities. A 6-year rainfed cropping experiment was conducted near Ritzville, Washington USA from 2015 2021. The objective compare performance of winter spring canola, triticale (× Triticosecale Wittmack) (WT), (WW) measure their effects on soil water dynamics subsequent (SW). Overwinter gain stubble significantly reduced compared WT WW stubble. more precipitation, the greater differences among treatments early spring. There a trend all years for diminished overwinter Averaged over years, grain yield SW 1940, 2340, 2210 kg/ha grown WT, stubble, respectively (p = 0.045). Coefficients determination regression analysis each year showed high correlation between content 180 cm profile yield, except one extreme drought. This paper provides first report region decline after versus cereal crops, primarily due storage.

Resistance to Multiple Soil-Borne Pathogens of the Pacific Northwest, USA Is Colocated in a Wheat Recombinant Inbred Line Population

Soil-borne pathogens of the Pacific Northwest decrease yields in both spring and winter wheat. Pathogens of economic importance include Fusarium culmorum, Pratylenchus neglectus, P. thornei, and Rhizoctonia solani AG8. Few options are available to growers to manage these pathogens and reduce yield loss, therefore the focus for breeding programs is on developing resistant wheat cultivars. A reco...

Characteristics of water consumption in water-saving winter wheat and effects on the utilization of subsequent summer rainfall in the North China Plain

Winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) grows in dry season but summer maize (Zea mays L.) coincides with rainfall in the North China Plain (NCP). Increasing rainfall use efficiency and harmonizing its utilization between the two species is an effective way to mitigate impact on groundwater deriving from wheat irrigation. One to four times water supply (W1, to W4) were employed in wheat, three wate...

The missing mountain water: slower westerlies decrease orographic enhancement in the Pacific Northwest USA.

Trends in streamflow timing and volume in the Pacific Northwest United States have been attributed to increased temperatures, because trends in precipitation at lower-elevation stations were negligible. We demonstrate that observed streamflow declines are probably associated with declines in mountain precipitation, revealing previously unexplored differential trends. Lower-troposphere winter (N...

the effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends

flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...

WHEAT Long-Term Effects of Tillage, Nitrogen, and Rainfall on Winter Wheat Yields in the Pacific Northwest

Increased yields with conservation tillage have been attributed to the conservation of soil water (Rao and Sustainable cropping systems are essential for agronomic, ecoDao, 1996; Papendick and Miller, 1977) due to decreased nomic, and environmental reasons. Data from a winter wheat (Tritievaporation and cooler soil temperatures (Gauer et al., cum aestivum L.)/summer fallow rotation experiment, ...
